Among the ''Christian'' festive traditions...2

For those who are interested in the origin of EASTER

//Adopted from my xanga on Sunday, 12 April 2009//

Have you ever wondered where Easter eggs or bunnies come from?

They are actually festive traditions of the Pagan feast of Eostre adopted by the Catholic Church. Eostre is the Goddess of Dawn worshipped by Saxons whom is represented by Spring Hare (buzzzzzzz bunnies~~~:p). And ''Egg'' is a commonly used symobol for ''Rebirth'' amongst the pagans. The English name for Easter derives from the Germanic word Eostre...while most European lang use names which derived from the Hebrew pasch, meaning Passover, e.g. pasche (Mid-Eng); pascua (Sp); Pâques (Fr)

***CAUTION: Many Christian ''rituals'' today are actually blended w/ tonzzzzz of pagan traditions and it's gd for u to differentiate them***
